Welcome to the Euro Fe blog site. Since this is the first blog we are posting, let me say that I appreciate communicating with all of you and we would appreciate your comments and feedback. Our vision of the blog is to bring you information about all aspects of remodeling stimulating discussion as to how to do it better.
Now onto a couple of ideas…

Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t like rules.

Rules often stifle creativity. Having said that, I have developed my own set of rules for remodeling that gives me an anchor in decision-making. One main rule for me is – get back to the root of the problem, fix it, and move forward.
I find that if I don’t fix a problem early, it compounds itself and becomes more difficult… costing more time and money.

Hypothetical example: A wall is out of level or square. This doesn’t affect the framer, drywaller, or painter, but it does affect hanging cabinets or setting tiles for backsplash. Now it’s a problem. The options are: rebuild the wall – very time consuming and costly; or redesign the project to overcome the obstacle.

Actual Example: In building a large addition, the wall at the end of a long hallway was mistakenly built at a 55 degree angle. My tile design was intended for a wall with a 45 degree angle. It was too late to rebuild the wall, so I had to change my diagonal tile design to a straight tile pattern.

Sometimes the problem needs to be fixed to maintain the integrity of the project. Sometimes, however, the cost of fixing the problem is too great to reasonably overcome, and doesn’t truly affect the outcome, so you break the rules.
Here’s another example of what breaking the rules can do for you. FREEDOM.

When you have the freedom to break the rules, to explore unique concepts in design, the possibilities are endless. This freedom allows us to vision award-winning ideas. Travel through our site and take a look at the myriad past projects including the numerous remodeling awards i have been honored to win over the last 30+ years including winning the HGTV’s “Designers’ Challenge” awards a few years ago.

It’s all about the FREEDOM to think about of the box, and even breaking the rules sometimes.
Perfect world, maybe not…However, Problem Solved.
