Throughout the history of the United States we have had many titles for what we commonly refer to as a “Kitchen”. What many would call the most important room in the house!

In the agrarian days of our country, we started what we would call a, “Farmer’s Kitchen” also called “dine-in kitchens”, where families ate in the same room. Moving to the late 1800s, we had a “butler’s kitchen”, which was, more or less, an isolated kitchen where servants prepared food. Now let’s skip forward to the 1960s for another kitchen innovation, the California kitchen, which was also somewhat isolated.

Today, the latest trend in kitchen renovations is a “live-in kitchen” that functions as the heart of our home. Instead of hoping your friends and family don’t congregate in your kitchen, this type of kitchen remodel welcomes your loved ones into the most popular room of your home.

However, the challenge is that with all our gadgets gadgets and gizmos, we don’t have room for the luxury of a large table. We have to use every inch as functional for storage and prep. That’s why we do what we do. Create the live-in kitchen using innovative ways to take advantage of space that does appear to be space, but actually is.
